SAIT Traineeship

Are you passionate about tax and ready to start your journey toward becoming a registered Tax Technician (SA)? As a SAIT Tax Technician Article Clerk, you’ll gain hands-on experience over a 3-year structured training programme with a SAIT-accredited firm.

• Prepare and submit tax returns for individuals, companies, and trusts, including Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, and Provisional Tax
• Assist with SARS queries, audits, and objections, helping clients navigate complex tax matters
• Perform accurate tax calculations and apply deductions, rebates, and allowances correctly
• Stay up to date with South African tax laws and apply them in real client scenarios
• Support basic tax planning and advisory work under the guidance of senior staff
• Use SARS eFiling and other tax software to manage submissions and compliance
• Keep accurate records and documentation for each client
• Track your progress in the official SAIT logbook, submitting updates monthly
• Take part in training simulations and theoretical learning as required by SAIT
• Work professionally, ethically, and in line with SARS and SAIT standards

• Be successfully registered to obtain an NQF level 4 qualification that includes mathematics and accounting.
• Have basic computer literacy skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

We utilise a simple and effective reporting structure whereby you would report to the tax manager, and the tax manager reports to the Managing Director. There are instances where you would report directly to the Managing Director.
